Anthony Carrigan Cast as Metamorpho in Superman: Legacy
Just a day after we got the announcement that Nathan Fillion, Isabel Merced, and Edi Gathegi would be joining David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan in James Gunn‘s Superman: Legacy, we now have another hero joining the film as Barry‘s Anthony Carrigan joins the film as the shapeshifting hero Metamorpho. The report from THR broke the news that the Emmy-nominated actor would be joining the superhero film from DC Studios.
Metamorpho is a DC Comics hero created by Bob Haney and Ramona Fradon who was introduced in 1965 within the pages of The Brave and the Bold #57. Rex Mason was left for dead in an ancient Egyptian pyramid and is exposed to a radioactive meteorite that sees him become Metamorpho. The Element Man is able to transform his body into any element on the periodic table which should make for an interesting adaptation to live-action. Carrigan gave a groundbreaking performance as NoHo Hank in Barry and it will be exciting to see him on the big screen as part of the highly-anticipated film.

Original story:
James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy is beginning to take shape. Only weeks after it was announced that David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan would lead the film as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, we now have a report from EW that Nathan Fillion will join the cast as Green Lantern alongside Isabel Merced and Edi Gathegi who will play Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific.
The future is looking bright for our favorite Kryptonian as Gunn looks to deliver a new vision of the character that will pull away from his origin story that we have relived time and time again. This will also serve as the launching point for Gunn and Peter Safran’s vision of the DCU as “Gods and Monsters” kicks off with a slate of films and TV series from the new heads of DC Studios.
Fillion will portray Guy Gardner who is a popular member of the Green Lantern Corps in the DC Comics line. It’s no doubt that Gunn and Fillion have a long history working together and while this could be an indication of Fillion playing this role in the future or headlining his own projects, he could also be playing a role set to introduce the Green Lantern Corps to viewers as we pave the way for other members of the corps to appear in the future.
Gathegi is tasked with bringing the super-intelligent hero to life. The inventor of the T-Sphere creations, we saw glimpses of the live-action Mr. Terrific in the Arrowverse. Gathegi has also donned a superhero persona before having appeared in X-Men: First Class.
Merced’s Hawkgirl is a mythical and brave hero with a feathered persona that reports stated could have made an appearance in later entries of Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam but given the film’s poor performance, that never saw the light of day.

The new DC Universe begins when Superman: Legacy premieres in theaters on July 11, 2025.
