First Look at Oni Press’s Night People #1

Oni Press has shown off the first look at Night People #1, the highly-anticipated first issue of a new series by literary icon Barry Gifford, renowned for Wild at Heart and Lost Highway, alongside breakout writer Chris Condon and artist Brian Level.

Night People follows a captivating cast of outsiders through four interlocking narratives, leading them on a path of intoxication, lust, and spontaneous violence from New Orleans to Egypt City, Florida, and back again.

The debut tale unveils the desperate and intense romance of two ex-convicts, Big Betty Stalcup and Miss Cutie Early, as they embark on a mission to purify the world of men’s malevolent influence, leaving a trail of mutilated bodies in their wake.

Their journey culminates in the kidnapping of Rollo Lamar, a gentle attorney, as they seek to reeducate at least one man before the downfall of civilization.

Night People #1 will feature a different acclaimed artist for each installment. The inaugural issue will feature Brian Level, followed by other notable artists, including Alexandre Tefengki, Artyom Topilin, and Marco Finnegan.

The debut will also boast covers by esteemed artists such as J.H. Williams III, Joëlle Jones, Jacob Phillips, and Brian Level.
