Echo Trailer Gives Glimpse Into Violent New Series
Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for their upcoming Disney+ series, Echo. The show features Alaqua Cox reprising her role as Maya Lopez, a deaf hero who also happens to be the niece of Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of Crime in the New York underworld, portrayed by Vincent D’Onofrio.

D’Onofrio is returning to the role of Fisk after appearing in the 2021 series Hawkeye, which introduced Cox’s character to audiences. The trailer showcases a confrontation between Maya and Kingpin, as well as the introduction of several new characters. Joining Cox and D’Onofrio are Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning, Graham Greene, and Zahn McClarnon. The series is directed by filmmakers Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie.
In addition to announcing the premiere date, it was revealed that Echo has received a TV-MA rating. This makes it the first Marvel Studios television series, apart from the Netflix shows Daredevil and The Punisher, to receive this rating. Furthermore, Echo will also be the first Marvel show to be simultaneously released on both Disney+ and Hulu. As previously mentioned, the series will differ from the traditional weekly release format and will drop all the episodes at once which should make binge-watchers very happy.

Daredevil: Born Again was initially scheduled to premiere shortly after Echo. This show would have continued the story of Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) and explored the aftermath of the events in Maya’s story arc. As previously reported, Born Again has been shelved as it gets a complete creative overhaul after the footage seen raised concerns about the direction of the series.
Despite this setback, there are still connections between the characters of Echo and Daredevil, as well as the anticipated appearance of Tatiana Maslany‘s She-Hulk, who will serve as a new romantic interest for Cox’s Murdock.
Marvel‘s Echo will premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on January 10, 2023. Check out the new trailer below:
