Easter Sunday Trailer Reveals Comedian Jo Koy’s Film Lead Debut
Universal Pictures has released a trailer for comedian Jo Koy‘s upcoming film Easter Sunday. The film will be Koy’s feature film lead debut. The film is inspired by Koy’s stand-up comedy which usually involves his retelling of wild stories revolving around his family. Koy will also serve as a producer on the film which is described as a love letter to Koy’s Filipino-American community.
The film will have Koy playing a fictionalized version of himself, who is returning home to his family to celebrate Easter. This leads to much of what Koy has recounted in his comedy special which includes a lot of yelling, bickering, and laughing.
The official synopsis for the film reads:
“Stand-up comedy sensation Jo Koy (Jo Koy: In His Elements, Jo Koy: Comin’ in Hot) stars as a man returning home for an Easter celebration with his riotous, bickering, eating, drinking, laughing, loving family, in this love letter to his Filipino-American community.”
Starring alongside Koy will be Lydia Gaston, Tia Carrere, Brandon Wardell, Eva Noblezada, Asif Ali, Rodney To, Jimmy O. Yang, Eugene Cordero Lou Diamond Phillips, and Tiffany Hadish. The film will be helmed by Jay Chandrasekhar who will also star in a supporting role.
