Duane Murray And Shawn Daley Bring Us An All-Ages Tale Of Loss and Imagination Titled BETTER PLACE
Duane Murray and Shawn Daley are teaming up with IDW Publishing to bring us an all-ages tale of grief, and the power of imagination with the graphic novel Better Place from Top Shelf.
The synopsis reads:
“This sidekick misses his superhero… After hearing that his grandfather has gone to a “better place”, a boy sets off on a grand adventure to find him, dressed as his favourite comic book character.
“Dylan just moved to a new house, with no friends, and a mother who doesn’t have time for him. Luckily, he has his grandad. Together, they are Red Rocket and Kid Cosmo, who save the universe every day with the power of imagination! But one day, Dylan learns that his grandad is suddenly gone… to a “better place.” Now, Kid Cosmo will have to save the day, all by himself.”
This is set to be the debut original graphic novel for Murray and Daley although Daley has previously worked on titles such as Samurai Grandpa, and other creator-owned projects. Better Place also features some pretty notable guest contributions from talented creators Matt Kindt, Jeff Lemire, and Nate Powell.
The graphic novel boasts a unique blend of mixed-color art which pairs black and white art with touches of color blended in to contrast the realities of and imagination. Check out the stunning preview below and look for Better Place on comic book shelves on October 26h, 2021.
