Doctor Strange 2 Cashes In On Its Multiverse of Madness With $450M at the Global Box Office
Marvel Studios’ newest entry in the MCU, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has hit big at the global box office with a $450M opening weekend. Doctor Strange 2 brought in $185M domestically with another $265M internationally conjuring up the big total for the film that fans and critics have been raving about since it premiered.
Multiverse of Madness is the second-biggest opening overseas behind Spider-Man: No Way Home during the pandemic era. The film also reached the fourth highest-grossing opening weekend for an MCU film worldwide with only Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and No Way Home in the top three spots.
The film had gathered much anticipation from fans all over the globe with the promise of the first true horror film in the MCU with Sam Raimi at the helm. The implications of the Multiverse also brought fans together with the possibilities of what might be explored seemingly endless. Between the trailers and featurettes, fans had seen many possible teases of what could be expected, such as Captain Carter making an appearance in a teaser just days before its premiere in theaters.
Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Xochitl Gomez, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Also set to appear in the film, is Patrick Stewart. Raimi directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness from a script by Jade Bartlett and Michael Waldron.
