From the first time I was introduced to the absolutely incredible art of Angela Oddling, I was a fan. She has such a unique style that is just so gosh darn adorable, you just can’t help but fall in love with it. So, when she announced her very first Kickstarter for her series Detached, you could bet that I’m gonna be all in for supporting her!

If you haven’t heard of her series before, here’s a synopsis of what it’s about:
**CW** Detached touches on very sensitive subjects about mental health and traumatic experiences. While none of these topics are explored explicitly, there is mention of depression, anxiety, suicide and self-harm, substance abuse, and sexual abuse. Please read with care.
After Casey’s personal demons manifest in the real world as creatures called Oddlings, she must learn to embrace and love herself or risk spiraling back into the captivity of her troubled past.

Angela has done an incredible job here, telling a story that leaves more questions than answers. Let me explain. The story starts out by introducing us to Casey, a woman rescued by a strange creature, and then left in the middle of the road, where she is found by another strange creature.
You can tell there is so much to this world, and even to this story, but Angela only reveals a small bit at a time, slowly peeling back details as the story progresses. This kept me drawn in and not only did I make it through Volume One, I found myself at the end of Volume Two quicker than I expected! This story is so well-written and full of emotion, I can’t wait to read the next installment!

If you want to get a copy for yourself, she will have them on her website sometime in August when she finishes shipping out rewards to all of the Kickstarter backers! For updates on this and all other things she is working on, be sure to follow her on IG @angelaoddling!

A jack of many trades, but a master of none, Chris dabbles in many nerdy hobbies including toy collecting, reading comics, writing fiction, reading novels, and playing video games. He’s also a huge wrestling fan, and knows more about it than most normal people should.
When he’s not writing or hosting podcasts for Geek Network, he can be found listening to podcasts and hanging out with his wife, his two daughters, and his little dog Gertie
