DC Will Introduce Trinity in Wonder Woman #800
DC Comics has announced big news coming for Wonder Woman as DC will introduce Trinity in Wonder Woman #800. In a story from acclaimed writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere, we will be introduced to the daughter of Diana when the issue is released next month. This will merely be the first step for Wonder Woman‘s daughter as she goes on to play a larger role in Wonder Woman‘s “Dawn of DC” solo series that also comes from the creative duo of King and Sampere.

Wonder Woman #800 will feature an ensemble of creators with writers Becky Cloonan and Michael W. Conrad joining King and illustrators Joelle Jones, Todd Nauck, and more joining Sampere. The issue will feature main cover art by Yanick Paquette with variant cover art by Brian Bolland, Jamal Campbell, Bilquis Evely, and Belen Ortega. Apart from the variant and main covers, there will be a 1:25 and 1:50 incentive cover from Megan Huang and Paquette as well as a special foil variant cover by Sampere. Lastly, a DC Pride variant cover by Brandt & Stein will be available as well as a Swimsuit cover by Michael Allred.
The description for WW #800 reads:
Whatever Happened to the Warrior of Truth?” concludes in a landmark 800th issue! Diana’s visions become more vivid as she finds herself trapped in the dreams of those around her! As she struggles to escape, her life as Wonder Woman hangs in the balance. When the dust settles, will she still be the Amazons’ greatest champion? Find out in this extra-special celebration!
King shares that Gerads is to credit for the creation of Trinity, saying:
“Mitch had a great idea for doing a sort of all ages short story to follow up on our Mister Miracle series where Jon and Damian would be babysitting Scott and Barda’s kid, Jack. This got me thinking about the son of Batman and the son Superman as older brother babysitters and how really the person they should be looking after is their little sister, the daughter of Wonder Woman.
I have three kids, two of whom are close in age and then one who’s 5 years younger than those two, so I’m very familiar with this dynamic and its potential for comedy and drama. Super sons…and daughter. It was the kind of thing I’d want to read with them at any age. So, after I had that idea in my head, I couldn’t get it out.”
Sampere added:
“I loved Yara’s design and her chest plate and wanted to do something similar to Joëlle Jones design in ours, like establishing it’s a common piece young amazons use frequently. For the colors, I liked the idea of using blue as the dominant color over red to make the opposite of her mother and give Trinity her own personality in that aspect too. Trinity will be an incredible character and I’m very honored to have created her look. I hope fans will enjoy it!”
Wonder Woman #1
Following Issue 800, King and Sampere will kick off their run in September with Wonder Woman #1 which sees an Amazonian accused of mass murder and triggers the passing of The Amazon Safety Act which bars all Amazonians from stepping foot on American soil. Readers won’t have to wait long to learn more about these events as WW #800 features a prelude to the story.
King and Sampere will take the reigns to usher in Diana’s “Dawn of DC” as King jumps back into an ongoing series after knocking out some self-contained stories such as Danger Street, Rorschach, The Human Target, and Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow which won over fans and now sees itself as the inspiration behind the upcoming Supergirl film in Gunn’s “Gods and Monsters” lineup.
Wonder Woman #1’s description reads:
“In September, Wonder Woman #1 will feature the new creative team of Eisner-winning writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere. After a mysterious Amazonian is accused of mass murder, the U.S. Congress passes The Amazon Safety Act, barring all Amazons from American soil. To carry out its new law, the government sets up the Amazon Extradition Entity (AXE) task force to remove those who don’t comply by any means necessary. In her search for the truth behind the killing, Wonder Woman now finds herself an outlaw in the world she once swore to protect. The action-packed Wonder Woman #1 will be available at local comic shops in July, and Wonder Woman #800 features a prelude to the story.”
Wonder Woman #800 will be available at your favorite local comic shop and digitally on June 20, 2023. Wonder Woman #1 will follow in September 2023.
