Days Gone Film In the Works From Sony
PlayStation Productions is developing a film based on the hit post-apocalyptic zombie video game Days Gone. The film is being developed alongside the story developer for X-Men: First Class, Sheldon Turner who will be penning the film’s script with Outlander‘s Sam Heughan in talks to star in the film as Deacon St. John. The film will be produced by Vendetta Productions‘ Jennifer Klein alongside Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan.
Days Gone was released in 2019 and followed protagonist Deacon St. John in an open-world apocalyptic world. Players took the role of St. John as he rode his motorcycle through the Pacific Northwest bounty-hunting for undead creatures called Freakers. The character was voiced by Sam Witwer and players experienced St. John’s backstory and the loss of a loved one. The report states that the film will be a “love ballad to motorcycle movies; the bike being Deacon’s sole form of transportation”.
Days Gone would join a slate of projects in the works that include The Last of Us, Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo, and the Ghost of Tsushima film adaptation. This also comes off the heels of the box office hit that presented itself in Uncharted which starred Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.
Heughan is well known for his role in Outlander and has also appeared in the films Bloodshot and The Spy Who Dumped Me with upcoming projects that include Everest and It’s All Coming Back to Me.
No other details have been given on the Days Gone film, stay tuned as more information is revealed.
