David Bruckner to Write and Direct The Blob Remake
David Bruckner, the director behind the recent Hellraiser reboot, is adding another classic to his list of reimaginings. He is set to write and direct the remake of The Blob for Warner Bros. Discovery.
While specific plot details are being closely guarded, the original 1958 film revolved around an alien amoeba growing in size as it consumed members of a small Pennsylvania town. The franchise continued with a sequel in 1972 and a highly praised remake in 1988.

With Bruckner’s extensive experience in the horror genre, including successful films such as The Ritual and The Night House, as well as his recent work on the Hellraiser reboot, expectations are high for his take on The Blob. The project is already assembling a strong team, including producers David Goyer and Keith Levine, and Judith Harris as executive producer.
Bruckner has also worked on other notable projects in the horror genre such as 2023’s V/H/S/85 which was produced by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence who recently pulled the curtain back on Abigail, their upcoming Universal Monster film starring Melissa Barrera, Dan Stevens, Kathryn Newton, and more.

Fans of Bruckner’s work can anticipate a fresh interpretation of The Blob, especially after his unique spin on the Hellraiser lore in the 2022 reboot for Hulu, which left a lasting impact on audiences while bringing an entry into the iconic horror franchise crafted for both new audiences and longtime fans.
