Small rant: Does anyone remember Fighting Foodons from the 90’s? You made food, basically threw a Yu-gi-oh card at it, and it became alive and ready for combat? I guess Digimon Tamers would be a better example: a kid draws Digimon, by the power of friendship or whatever it becomes alive, and then they fight other Digimon in the real world. What I’m getting at is CULINARY COMBAT and CHEF WARRIORS.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Cooking With Monsters where you too can join the Gourmand Academy of Culinary Combat to become a Warrior Chef. As someone who loves to cook, until this moment I didn’t know this was my dream but I am already trying to find an application. The story follows Hana Ozawa, Bobby Bina, and friends on their journey through their culinary adventures.
Giving vibes of Harry Potter meets Iron Chef, the story isn’t lacking flavor. The friendships, trials, and tribulations that Hana and her friends go through are real and develop their strength of character page by page. The art is simple but conveys the story well without detracting from anything of substance. The monsters are creative and feel like they could really do you harm.
Every page made me want the story to be real- to give me a taste of a world much more spicy than my own. A delicious slice of life, with a perfectly paired side of combat if you like coming-of-age tales then you’ll love Cooking With Monsters.

Does anyone want to start a culinary school?

Do I know Sabrina? Sabrina…Sabrina….Oh, you mean her? Yeahh. She’s wild. Homegirl throws solo dance parties in her bedroom. She writes like nobody’s reading…because they aren’t (yet). She is an award winning baker, and has seen every episode of every season of ALL the Star Treks, and Stargates except Stargate Universe because it wasn’t right. Perpetual teenager. 4’11 of sass and sarcasm. She’s obsessed with cats. Single if you can believe it. All around nerd, and just too weird for her own good. AND SHE’S PROUD OF IT?
