Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers Trailer Brings Our Favorite Chipmunks Into the Real World
Disney+ has unveiled a trailer for the upcoming Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers film that is set to blend live-action along with 2-D and 3-D animation. The film was previously announced in 2021 and was said to be veering into a different style of storytelling and after the footage that was revealed, they took it to heart.
The film is set 30 years after the animated series was canceled and follows our favorite chipmunks Chip (John Mulaney) and Dale (Andy Samberg) as washed-up former stars who must band together once again in order to find a missing friend. The film blends the animation styles and live-action together and in a world where the barriers between cartoons and humans do not exist in a very Roger Rabbit-esque tone.
The short trailer gave us plenty of nostalgia as well as a barrage of easter eggs that includes Indiana Jones, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Jurassic Park, My Little Pony, and a hilarious dig at the CGI work in the 2019 Cats film.
Starring alongside Mulaney and Samberg will be KiKi Layne, Will Arnett, Eric Bana, Flula Borg, Dennis Haysbert, Keegan-Michael Key, Tress MacNeille, Tim Robinson, Seth Rogen, J.K. Simmons, and Chris Parnell. The film is directed by Akiva Schaffer from a script written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand. Samber and Schaffer are also two-thirds of the comedy trio The Lonely Island formed with Jorma Taccone.
Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers will premiere on Disney+ on May 20th, 2022. Check out the trailer below:
