Beast Trailer Pits Idris Elba Against A Prowling Predator in a Heart-Pounding Thriller

Universal Pictures has released a trailer for the upcoming thriller film, Beast. The film stars Idris Elba as a father who takes his two daughters on a trip to South Africa to visit an old friend. What begins as an escape for the trio quickly turns into a fight for survival as a lion is on the prowl and hunts them, leading to a deadly game of cat and mouse in the lion’s territory.

“Dr. Nate Daniels, a recently widowed husband who returns to South Africa, where he first met his wife, on a long-planned trip with their daughters to a game reserve managed by Martin Battles, an old family friend, and wildlife biologist. But what begins as a journey of healing jolts into a fearsome fight for survival when a lion, a survivor of blood-thirsty poachers who now sees all humans as the enemy, begins stalking them.”

Starring alongside Elba will be Sharlto Copley, Iyana Halley, and Leah Sava Jeffries. Beast was helmed by Baltasar Kormákur from a script penned by Ryan Engle based on an original story by Jaime Primak Sullivan. Sullivan also serves as executive producer alongside Bernard Bellew.

Elba is no stranger to action and has been a popular lead choice for film and TV since his iconic role in the HBO series The Wire. He recently starred in films such as Fast and Furious, Hobbs & Shaw, The Suicide Squad, and voiced Knuckles in the box office hit Sonic The Hedgehog 2 which is streaming on Paramount+ now. He will also voice Knuckles in the upcoming spinoff series coming to the streamer as well.

Beast will premiere in theaters on August 19th, 2022. Check out the trailer below:
