Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Trailer Unleashes Kang the Conquerer’s Wrath to Kick Off Phase Five
Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quatumania. The highly-anticipated threequel for the MCU’s tiniest hero has arrived. It is set to kick off Phase Five of the MCU with Loki‘s super-villain, Kang the Conquerer (Jonathan Majors) returning.
Although those who attended this year’s San Diego Comic-Con already got a glimpse at the trailer, the official Ant-Man social media account let True Believers know that the trailer was coming for all to see.
The trailer looks to unpack quite a bit as not only is it the launch point of the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the major encounter with the next big villain our heroes will face. All this is on top of everything that has happened to Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly).
We are sure to get a recount of what Scott was up to or experienced while trapped in the Quantum Realm and being a key to their plan to take down Thanos as well as everything that has happened since. Not to mention Bill Murray is now canon in the MCU.
Quantumania‘s official synopsis reads:
“In the film, which officially kicks off phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Together, with Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible. Jonathan Majors joins the adventure as Kang. Director Peyton Reed returns to direct the film; Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard produce.”
Starring alongside Rudd, Lilly, and Majors will be Michelle Pfeiffer, Kathryn Newton, Michael Douglas, Randall Park, and Mike Wood. The film is helmed by Peyton Reed working from a screenplay written by Jeff Loveness with Kevin Feige and Stephen Broussard producing.
This might be the spark the MCU needs to reinvigorate fans as Phase Four of the MCU has been the topic of much criticism as of late with many calling the original series on Disney+ disconnected and outside of what previous MCU entries have delivered.
Whether it be the fatigue of the long-spanning Infinity Saga or fans looking for a quick progression from the aftermath of the fight against Thanos to the next phase, Quantumania‘s entry point into the next progressive movement of the MCU might just put that to bed, and look to enter another iconic storyline that feeds the True Believers in all of us.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will release in theaters on February 17, 2023.
