Abigail Trailer Unveils Radio Silence’s Universal Monster Film
The much-anticipated Universal Monster movie from Radio Silence has been revealed as Abigail, with the release of a haunting trailer. Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, renowned for their work on Ready or Not and most recently, Scream 5 and Scream 6 have once again captured the attention of horror fans in a film that screams Radio Silence to its core.

The plot revolves around a group of criminals, led by a star-studded cast including Melissa Barrera (Scream VI) and Kathryn Newton (Paranormal Activity 4, Freaky), who embark on a mission to abduct a 12-year-old ballerina named Abigail. The seemingly straightforward task of monitoring her in a secured mansion overnight promises a $50 million reward.
However, complications arise as Abigail’s father, a powerful figure, and her own monstrous nature come into play, turning the simple job into a perilous endeavor that may just bleed them dry. The chilling trailer depicts the supposed daughter of Dracula methodically eliminating the criminals one by one, making it abundantly clear that this is no ordinary babysitting assignment.
In addition to Barrera and Newton, Abigail stars Dan Stevens, Alisha Weir, William Catlett, Kevin Durand, Angus Cloud, and Giancarlo Esposito. Bettineli-Olpin and Gillett helm the film from a screenplay by Stephen Shields and Guy Busick. The film is produced by William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, James Vanderbilt, Tripp Vinson, and Chad Vilella with Ron Lynch and Macdara Kelleher executive producing.
Abigail marks a return to the roots for the directing team, with the monster movie exuding a captivating ambiance that bears the distinct imprint of Radio Silence. Although the trailer doesn’t explicitly confirm the identity of the character as Count Dracula’s daughter, the haunting rendition of “Swan Lake” in the background very much strongly suggests that this is the famed Universal Movie creature we are dealing with.

Although Radio Silence stepped away from the Scream franchise after two successful entries in the beloved slasher film franchise, and the sudden release of Barrera from the film which likely led to Jenna Ortega‘s departure and most recently Christopher Landon walking away from Scream 7 after citing issues with the production of the sequel.
It is reassuring to see that the directing duo and Barrera still have plenty of scares to deliver to fans.
Abigail is set to be unleashed on the big screen on April 19, 2024. Check out the trailer below:
