50 Years of Luke Cage is Celebrated with J. Scott Campbell’s Anniversary Cover
Marvel Comics has announced that the publisher will be celebrating 50 years of Luke Cage with a special anniversary cover honoring the milestone for the Marvel icon. They have enlisted the talents of J. Scott Campbell who will provide the art for the anniversary cover. Campbell is no stranger to honoring the Marvel universe and its heroes having provided rt for other anniversary covers that include Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man, and Ant-Man.
The anniversary cover of Luke Cage will be a variant cover for Daredevil #4 as Luke Cage is highlighted in his Power Man outfit to honor his time as the street-level hero of the Marvel Universe in which he has served as a solo hero, and also an Avenger.
Campbell shared the honor they felt to be able to celebrate the anniversaries of these iconic characters, saying:
“It’s a thrill and an honor to create cover art celebrating the anniversary of characters that have become so iconic and ingrained in our culture. I really wanted to make images that would have a visual bridge from the pulpy 4 color origins of these monumental heroes to the modern day slick coloring and production we are now all familiar with.”
Daredevil #4 is written by Chip Zdarsky with art by Rafael de Latorre and will be available at your favorite local comic shop or digitally on October 12th, 2022. The issue will feature a main cover by Marco Checcetto with Campbell retro and virgin anniversary covers released as variant covers. Check them out below:
