Yellowstone Season 5 Premiere Sets Ratings Record
Paramount+‘s western drama series Yellowstone just aired its season 5 premiere and shattered viewing records. The series created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson brought in 12.1M for the season 5 premiere this past Sunday. The series’ demographic reports also showed an increase of double digits in its young adult and adult audience showing the series reaching a wider audience which is impressive as it enters its fifth season.
The series now serves as the mainline series for what is turning into a generational franchise as Sheridan is working on presenting viewers with different generations of the Dutton family. Yellowstone follows the modern-day Dutton family which owns the largest ranch in the state of Montana. Throughout the previous seasons, we have seen the Duttons fight to preserve their ranch against the Borken Rock Indian Reservation, corporations, and developers. Not much has changed going into season 5 as the series premiere opens up with the battle for ownership of Yellowstone ranch continuing and Kevin Costner‘s John Dutton taking a role as Governor of Montana, reluctantly that is.
Starring alongside Costner is Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, Wes Bentley, Kelsey Asbille, Gil Birmingham, Finn Little, Jacki Weaver, Piper Perabo, Moses Brings Plenty, Ian Bohen, Denim Richards, Ryan Bingham, Forrie J. Smith, and Jen Landon. They will be joined by new faces in season 5 that include Lainey Wilson, Kai Caster, Lilli Kay, Dawn Olivieri, Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Bob Yari, and Stephen Kay.
Paramount released a teaser trailer for the upcoming prequel spin-off series starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in Yellowstone: 1923. The series will take place between the currently ongoing Yellowstone and the previously released prequel series 1883. The series sees a generation of Duttons heading to Yellowstone ranch during the prohibition era and facing many different threats and challenges including the imminent Great Depression.
