WWE Has Signed a Deal to Make a Wrestling RPG
WWE has signed a deal to bring fans a new wrestling RPG game. The news broke after a recent financial call from WWE that also revealed the WWE‘s plans to keep looking into the metaverse, decentralized property, and much more. The report was first revealed by Eurogamer which should prove to be exciting for wrestling fans.
WWE chief brand manager Stephanie McMahon said during the call:
“[WWE] recently signed a new deal in the role-playing game space that will be announced soon. We also continue to evaluate the metaverse, both walled garden environments that already exist as well as decentralized properties. Look to hear more in the coming months.”
That isn’t much information to go on but they do state that we will get more information on the game soon which will hopefully reveal, who will be working on developing the game, and how the game will possibly look, or even play. With WWE2K22 recently released and giving fans a taste of in-ring action, it’ll be interesting what path they take on an RPG-focused title.
McMahon continued during the financial call, saying:
“After taking a little more than a year off to improve the game engine, we worked hand in glove with our partners that take to interactive, listen to our customers and fans, and earned back their trust by delivering a game that exceeded their expectations. WWE 2K22 was a commercial and critical success with the highest Metacritic scores on both Xbox and PlayStation platforms in franchise history with over 5.6 [million] hours viewed on Twitch to date. Gaming is a priority for WWE to reach our next-gen audience with over 80% of WWE’s audience self-identifying as gamers.”
We are eager to hear more about the plans they have for a role-playing focused game. Stay tuned as more information becomes available.
