The comic world is skree-onking with excitement as Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics announce the return of James Harren’s blockbuster series ULTRAMEGA. This highly anticipated second arc will hit comic book shops on September 18, and fans couldn’t be more thrilled.

Here at Geek Network, ULTRAMEGA was a favorite for many of us, and we’re 110% stoked to see this roiling mass of body horror and kaiju zaniness make a comeback! The combination of James Harren’s incredibly visceral storytelling and Dave Stewart’s vivid coloring created an unforgettable kaiju experience in the first arc, and we can’t wait to dive into the new chapters this fall.

ULTRAMEGA first burst onto the scene in 2021, quickly amassing a dedicated following with its unique spin on the kaiju genre. The series masterfully blends elements of classic monster movies with a modern, gritty narrative, offering an experience that is both nostalgically familiar and refreshingly original.

The upcoming issue, ULTRAMEGA #5, picks up after the devastating events of the first volume. Noah takes on the Ultramega mantle from his father, facing a world ravaged by kaiju. With the original Ultramega heroes failing, Noah must rise to the challenge in a brutal world devoid of heroes or hope. Alongside the Kaiju Queen, new threats loom deep in the stars, promising more cryptic and impossibly psychotic adversaries in what can only be described as a WORLD of ULTRAMEGA.

The massive 72-page issue will be available with various cover options, including a main cover by Harren & Stewart, an open-to-order variant cover by the legendary Mike Mignola & Stewart, a 1:10 incentive black-and-white variant cover by Mignola, a 1:25 incentive black-and-white variant cover by Harren, and a blank sketch cover.

ULTRAMEGA #5 will be available on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at comic book shops and digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play.
