The previously delayed next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will arrive in Q4 2022. CD Projekt Red announced that after taking over the development from Saber Interactive, the studio has a planned release that puts it on the back end of this year. In their Twitter post, making the announcement, the studios says:
“Let’s make this 7th anniversary even better, shall we? We’re delighted to share that the Next Gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is planned to release in Q4 2022. See you on the Path, witchers!”
Let's make this 7th anniversary even better, shall we?
We're delighted to share that the Next Gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is planned to release in Q4 2022.
CD Projekt Red has announced that the upcoming The Witcher 3 next-gen upgrade has been delayed indefinitely. The upgrade that was coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been hit with another delay, although the delay this time around is due to the shift in development from Saber Interactive to in-house.
The studio made the announcement via Twitter, saying:
“We have decided to have our in-house development team conduct the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” reads the tweet. “We are currently evaluating the scope of work to be done and thus have to postpone Q2 release until further notice.” A follow-up message says, “We’ll update you as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding.”
No reason was given as to why they shifted the porting from Saber Interactive to in-house but CDPR has been busy with their recent next-gen port of Cyberpunk 2077 that was released back in February, the upcoming expansions coming to Cyberpunk 2077, and the recently announced upcoming chapter in The Witcher that the studio will be developing on Unreal Engine 5 and will begin a new saga of The Witcher.
