The Strangers: Chapter 1 Trailer Reminds Us To Lock Our Doors

Lionsgate has released the trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 1 and is already sending chills down the spines of many viewers, setting the stage for what appears to be a hair-raising remake of the original Strangers movie.

This time, a couple’s vacation to a remote cabin takes a terrifying turn as they become the targets of a masked group determined to inflict torment upon them. The trailer is replete with eerie imagery and tantalizing enigmas, leaving audiences pondering the haunting question of why this couple was selected as their victims.

Written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, and directed by Renny Harlin, The Strangers: Chapter 1 boasts a talented cast including Madelaine Petsch, Froy Guitierrez, Gabriel Basso, and Ema Horvath, who step into the shoes of the new victims in this adaptation, which takes us on a different journey than the original film portrayed by Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman 15 years ago.

Despite being a remake, the true intrigue lies in what’s to come: two sequels that will delve into Petsch’s character’s journey after the harrowing events of the first installment. Director Harlin has revealed that these sequels will explore her trauma and the challenges she faces in the aftermath of the home invasion.

While exploring the aftermath is undoubtedly compelling, some may feel that revealing a character’s survival may diminish the tension. However, if the trailer is any indication, the journey from arriving at the cabin to escaping it promises to be sufficiently bone-chilling.

The Strangers: Chapter 1 is scheduled to hit theaters on May 17. Check out the trailer below:
