The Sandman Trailer Gives Us A First Look At the Nightmarish Live-Action Series
Netflix has revealed a trailer for the highly-anticipated live-action adaptation of The Sandman. Revealed during Geeked Week, the live-action series is set to adapt Neil Gaiman‘s comic book series that revolves around seven internal entities in control of crucial aspects of existence.
Netflix‘s synopsis for The Sandman reads:
“There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever.
To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way.”
The series’ first season will focus on Gaiman’s The Sandman, Volume 1: Preludes & Nocturnes and will star Tom Sturridge, Vivienne Acheampong, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, David Thewlis, Boyd Holbrook, Gwendoline Christie, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Donna Preston, Jenna Coleman, Niamh Walsh, Joely Richardson, Kyo Ra, Stephen Fry, Razane Jammal, Sandra James Young, and Patton Oswalt.
Gaiman will executive produce the series alongside Allan Heinberg and David S. Goyer. Heinberg will also serve as series showrunner.
The Sandman will premiere with eleven episodes exclusively on Netflix on August 5th, 2022. Check out the trailer below:
