The Mandalorian & Grogu: New Star Wars Movie Announced with Jon Favreau Directing
Exciting news has been revealed by StarWars.com regarding a brand new Star Wars movie directed by Jon Favreau, titled The Mandalorian & Grogu. Scheduled to go into production later this year, the film will feature the dynamic duo in an epic adventure on the big screen.
The talented team set to produce the movie includes Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, and Dave Filoni, all of whom have been instrumental in shaping the beloved Star Wars universe.
Jon Favreau expressed his enthusiasm, stating:
“I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created. The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, also shared her excitement, adding:
“Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have ushered into Star Wars two new and beloved characters, and this new story is a perfect fit for the big screen.”
The Mandalorian & Grogu will headline Lucasfilm’s ongoing feature-development slate, joining a lineup that includes films helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, James Mangold, and Dave Filoni, who is also currently developing Ahsoka Season 2, among others in the works.
This highly-anticipated movie is poised to be the first Star Wars film to hit theaters since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, marking a significant return after the announcement of a hiatus for Star Wars movies.
While other potential Star Wars films such as The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson’s trilogy, the Rogue Squadron movie, and the D.B. Weiss and David Benioff trilogy have either been removed from the schedule or canceled, fans can look forward to the arrival of The Mandalorian & Grogu as a beacon of new Star Wars storytelling on the silver screen.
You can catch up on the Star Wars universe on Disney+ and stay tuned as more information is released about the upcoming film, The Mandalorian & Grogu.
