The Exorcist: Believer Trailer Takes Us Into the New Chapter of The Exorcist Franchise
Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have released The Exorcist: Believer trailer giving us a head-turning look at the next chapter in the iconic horror franchise. Also nabbing itself a release date of Friday the 13th, the film is hitting on all the superstitions, legends, and all the things that make the hairs on the back of our necks rise. The film has been long-awaited by fans of the franchise and the genre altogether as the dark forces of possession strike again bringing in new faces and some very familiar ones as well.
The original film had its genre-altering release fifty years ago which cemented The Exorcist as a timeless classic and now half a decade later, we are getting ready to revisit the horrors once again as the film gives longtime fans an opening back into this universe while opening the door to a whole new generation of fans.
The new chapter will be helmed by David Gordon Green who previously worked on another revitalized franchise with the renewed Halloween trilogy which saw Jamie Lee Curtis return to her iconic role and go toe-to-toe with Michael Myers once again. The new film will play on two fronts as a father goes on a mission to save his daughter’s soul from the dark forces of possession after she and her friend go missing for days and upon their return, a sinister darkness clouds the once innocent children.
The film will unravel a sinister mystery as the girls are seemingly stripped of any recollection of their time missing from their home and family and after the possession begins to take hold, the father must rely on Chris MacNeil ( Ellen Burstyn) who reprises her role from the original film as the mother of the originally possessed Regan MacNeil.
The film stars Leslie Odom Jr., Lidya Jewett, Olivia Marcum, Ann Dowd, and Jennifer Nettles. The film was scripted by Peter Sattler from a story by Scott Teems, Danny McBride, and Green. The Exorcist is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by William Peter Blatty.
