The Quarry Developer Supermassive Games Acquired By Nordisk Games
Supermassive Games has reportedly been acquired by Danish company Nordisk Games. The studio behind the narrative-driven horror video games Until Dawn, The Quarry, and The Dark Pictures Anthology will be joining other developers such as Avalanche Studios and MercurySteam under Nordisk Games’ banner.
Supermassive Games CEO Pete Samuels said in a statement:
“Having had such a positive experience over the past year it wasn’t a difficult decision when Nordisk Games wanted to explore increasing their investment. We have an exciting and ambitious growth strategy for Supermassive Games and Nordisk Games ownership only enhances that. I’m hugely excited about where the security offered by this partnership, and continued access to the expertise within Nordisk Games, will take us next.”
The Quarry recently celebrated a successful launch with both critics and fans raving about the summer camp horror game and Supermassive Games is gearing up to conclude season one of The Dark Pictures Anthology with the release of The Devil In Me but as previous reports have noted, the studio has plenty planned for the anthology series in the future. In the meantime, Supermassive and Nordisk will celebrate the full acquisition while hopefully continuing to deliver high-quality horror experiences for players.
