Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic Remake Delayed Indefinitely
Lucasfilm Games and Aspyr Media‘s upcoming Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake has been delayed indefinitely. According to a report from Bloomberg, the game which was initially announced in 2021 with a short trailer, the highly-anticipated remake of the RPG had unnamed sources close to the development reveal that the project has had its development put on hold indefinitely. This reportedly is in part to significant departures in staff at Aspyr Media.
These departures include both the art director and the design director that were unexpectedly let go from the company. A demo was shown off to license holders that were reportedly well received. Still, information following the demo, the development team received messaging indicated the project was not where the studio’s leadership expected it to be.
The developers at Aspyr Media are now indicating that a 2025 launch is a more realistic time frame for the project to release. This may serve as a disappointment for many fans of the video game franchise but for such an iconic project to be brought to life to another generation of fans is not an easy feat, especially accounting for the massive fandom that Star Wars holds. The need for additional time might not be the best news for fans but in the long run, when the game finally does release, a polished and well-done project will benefit all.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic does not currently have an updated release date but stay tuned as more information becomes available.
