Star Trek: Prodigy Saved By Netflix, Second Season In The Works

Star Trek: Prodigy has been saved from cancellation. Initially axed by Paramount with plans to remove it from their streaming service, Paramount+, the series has now found a new home on Netflix where we will see its second season premiere.

Star Trek: Prodigy revolves around a group of young aliens who stumble upon the USS Protostar, an abandoned Starfleet ship. As they navigate the challenges of manning a starship, they are guided by an Emergency Training Hologram in the likeness of the legendary Captain Janeway.

The decision to cancel the series had fans in an uproar, who quickly mobilized in a campaign to save Star Trek: Prodigy. Their dedication and passion led to a banner with the message “Save Star Trek Prodigy” being flown over Netflix’s Los Angeles offices on Sunset Boulevard. It seems that this demonstration of support did not go unnoticed, as Netflix has now taken a chance on the animated series.
