Sony and Amazon Bring Crunchyroll to Prime Video
Sony and Amazon have announced a global agreement to distribute Crunchyroll‘s entire anime library on Prime Video as an optional add-on. This collaboration allows Prime members in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Sweden, and other territories to access Crunchyroll content.
Prime members can choose between two Crunchyroll membership tiers: the Fan tier priced at $7.99/month, and the Mega Fan tier priced at $9.99/month. Both tiers offer ad-free streaming of popular anime titles shortly after they air in Japan. Additionally, Mega Fan tier subscribers will have the ability to download any anime title for offline viewing.

Terry Li, EVP of emerging business at Crunchyroll, expressed excitement about welcoming new fans into the anime community through the launch on Prime Video Channels. Matt Cohen, head of content acquisition and partnerships at Prime Video Channels, emphasized how Crunchyroll’s addition enriches the wide range of premium entertainment already available on Prime Video.
This development follows Crunchyroll‘s recent launch of a free 24/7 ad-supported anime channel in the US on various platforms which included Amazon’s Freevee channel. The channel offers a lineup of older, English-dubbed anime series, including To Your Eternity, Ranking of Kings, Psycho-Pass, and, Code Geass.

The timing of Crunchyroll’s availability on Prime Video Channels is excellent as it coincides with the start of the Fall season for popular anime series. Fans can catch up on ongoing shows like Demon Slayer, and The Rising of the Shield Hero, as well as explore new series such as Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End! Both the pricing for the Prime Video add-on and the standalone subscriptions are of equal price and value.
