A while back I met Lee Newman on Twitter while talking with a couple of awesome guys about their podcast We Have Issues. He’s a super positive guy with a great sense of humor. I also found out he is a comic book writer, his most recent being Sissonne #1. If you’re unfamiliar, here’s a premise:

Grand City: Home to heroes great and small! And then there’s Mark…
Mark Salzmann is a pretty average guy. He’s got a day job, a gym membership he rarely uses, a girlfriend, and a best buddy at work. But… Mark has a secret. In his downtime, he’s the good-hearted, well-intentioned, but not-so-well-respected crimefighter Sissonne!
What amazing powers could such a noble soul possess? How about unusually strong feet and a love for ballet dancing? Listen, the guy has passion and a purpose. Cut him some slack.
The concept of a guy who knows his own superhero limitations, who knows he can’t save the world, but can try and make his neighborhood a better place, is a very interesting concept to me, and not one you see very often. I also liked the fact that this book does not take itself too seriously.
In a world filled with dark, brooding books, Sissonne is the light that shines on the idea that you can have a book with a character that has a superpower, and not have it be entirely about their superpower. Mark is just a guy that wants to make things better, and that’s something we all can relate to.

I enjoyed this book a lot, and I am very excited to see where Lee takes this series next. If you want to check this book out for yourself and trust me you do, click the link and snag a copy for yourself!

A jack of many trades, but a master of none, Chris dabbles in many nerdy hobbies including toy collecting, reading comics, writing fiction, reading novels, and playing video games. He’s also a huge wrestling fan, and knows more about it than most normal people should.
When he’s not writing or hosting podcasts for Geek Network, he can be found listening to podcasts and hanging out with his wife, his two daughters, and his little dog Gertie.
