Scott Snyder On His Continued Blazing Path of Creator-Owned Stories
Scott Snyder chats with us about his continued ventures into his own creator-owned series after his time at DC Comics that spawned a multitude of iconic runs with some of our favorite DC characters. Snyder has recently teamed up with his longtime collaborator Rafael Albuquerque who helped deliver countless issues of Vertigo‘s American Vampire to bring us the ComiXology Original series Duck and Cover.

The manga-influenced post-apocalyptic series sees a nuclear exchange in America and the only survivors are those who paid attention during class and used the shelter of their desks to protect them from the blast and aftermath. Now, begins a teen adventure series that finds these lone survivors in a new 50s-era United States.
Snyder also shares some details about his upcoming series for the new publisher DSTLRY which has been making waves since being announced a few months ago. The upcoming anthology series ‘The Devil’s Cut‘ which boasts an incredible 88 pages will feature 11 stories from some of the biggest names in comics and within that anthology, Snyder’s ‘White Boat‘ will be teased as he prepares to launch the series at the publisher alongside Francesco Francavilla, Tyler Jennes, and AndWorld Design.

Snyder shared through his Substack newsletter Our Best Jackett that this will be a horror series that he will craft alongside his longtime collaborator and friend Francavilla. Although Snyder keeps the details, mum, he does tease that this idea started as a labyrinthian exploration of a mega-yacht inspired by some of Snyder’s personal experiences. Snyder does share that this idea has blossomed and expanded which fans should get a taste of when ‘The Devil’s Cut’ releases on August 30, 2023.
Snyder has also brought his series Barnstormers to Dark Horse Comics which delivers a World War 1 adventure story embellished in love and war which will see its second issue released on New Comic Book Day tomorrow after a groundbreaking debut issue. Snyder also just received a Ringo Award nomination for “Best Writer” which solidifies that his creator-owned work carries much promise with much more for readers to look forward to in the future.
