Sand Land: The Series Announced at Hulu

Hulu has announced a series adaptation of Akira Toriyama‘s Sand Land. The anime series has been officially announced for a global release in Spring 2024. Following the successful release of the Sand Land anime movie in Japan last August, fans worldwide now have Sand Land: The Series coming their way when it premieres on Hulu.

Originally released as an anime movie in Japan in August, Sand Land garnered attention for its immersive storytelling and visually stunning animation. The series adaptation will pick up after the events of the anime film for a new and continuing journey which will also include cuts of the film and specially selected adaptations of the manga. You will also see your favorite characters return to reprise their voice roles which includes Mutsumi Tamura, Kazuhiro Yamaji, Cho, and Satoshi Tsuruoka.

Toriyama’s manga series Sand Land made its initial debut as a short series in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The manga was serialized for a total of 14 chapters, running from May to August 2000. Following the serialization, a compilation volume containing the entire story was published in November 2000.

Akira Toriyama, widely recognized as the creator of beloved manga series such as Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball, unveiled a teaser for the SAND LAND project in December 2022. The Sand Land anime series and film are being produced in collaboration with Bandai Namco Filmworks Inc.’s Sunrise Studio, Kamikaze Douga Co., Ltd., and Anima Inc.
