Samaritan Trailer Shows Sylvester Stallone As A Vigilante Hero in Action-Packed Film

Prime Video has released the first trailer for Samaritan. The film stars Sylvester Stallone as a retired superhero who now works as a garbage man until he crosses paths with a thirteen-year-old boy (Javon Walton) who attempts to convince him to return to his life of fighting crime.

The trailer introduces us to the fictional location called Granite City. This is where Joe Smith (Stallone) spends his days working as a garbageman while finding objects amongst the trash to repurpose and give new life to.

This is the simple life he lives to pass the time until he crosses paths with Sam (Walton). As Sam is being bullied, Joe intervenes and shows off his impressive superhuman strength which leads Sam to believe he is the famous superhero named Samaritan who everyone believes to have died 25 years ago.

Prime Video‘s synopsis for Samaritan reads:

“Thirteen-year-old Sam Cleary (Javon “Wanna” Walton) suspects that his mysterious and reclusive neighbor Mr. Smith (Sylvester Stallone) is actually a legend hiding in plain sight. Twenty-five years ago, Granite City’s super powered vigilante, Samaritan, was reported dead after a fiery warehouse battle with his rival, Nemesis. Most believe Samaritan perished in the fire, but some in the city, like Sam, have hope that he is still alive. With crime on the rise and the city on the brink of chaos, Sam makes it his mission to coax his neighbor out of hiding to save the city from ruin.”

Starring alongside Stallone and Walton is Pilou Asbæk, Dascha Polanco, and Moises Arias. The film was directed by Julius Avery from a script written by Bragi F. Schut.

Samaritan will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on August 26th, 2022. Check out the trailer below:
