Ubisoft’s Roller Champions Releasing Next Week
Ubisoft has announced that the long-awaited roller derby game Roller Champions is going to be released next week. The free-to-play game was announced at E3 in 2019 and has gone through several rounds of alpha and beta tests. The game suffered many delays that pushed it out of its initial 2020 release window and even its February 2022 release window. The studio is now ready to let players jump into the fast-paced action of roller derby action.
The game is slated to arrive on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Nintendo Switch players will get the game eventually but will have to wait a bit longer as no release date has been announced for the platform. Other platforms awaiting a release date are Epic Games, Google Stadia, and Amazon Luna.
In Roller Champions, players will be put in a 3v3 race on roller derby tracks. Players will fight for possession of a ball that players will use to score with at the end of each lap. The more laps you complete with the ball in your possession, the more points you will earn when scoring. The first team to score five points, or has more points at the end of the match, wins. The game will also include a Battle Pass with both free and premium rewards. The game features customizable characters, so expect to see unlockable cosmetics and emotes through progression and the Battle Pass. Cross-progression will also be available for players on all platforms.
Roller Champions will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC on May 25th, 2022. Check out the gameplay overview trailer below:
