Reviewed by Weird – TOXX #3 & #4
A couple of months back, I got the chance to check out TOXX #1 and #2 from Wolven Press. I was immediately pulled into this futuristic dystopian world where the Earth’s Ozone had long since been depleted, and it was here I met a woman named Claire, who was pregnant with the first baby in decades, and now two factions are fighting over her.

I was left on a big cliffhanger that I was excited to see play out in the next issues. Today, the wait paid off, and I was able to check out Toxx #3 & #4. If you haven’t read the first two issues or my review of them, let’s catch you up:
In this ravaged world, where hope is a currency coveted by many, Claire finds herself pursued relentlessly by two ruthless factions. A fearsome band of mutants, consumed by a seething hatred for humanity, seeks to obliterate her as a symbol of the past.
Meanwhile, a ferocious gang of merciless bikers stops at nothing to seize her unborn child, viewing it as a rare and precious resource. Every ounce of Claire’s being is dedicated to survival, not only for herself but for the fragile life budding within her. Amidst the unforgiving wasteland, where danger lurks in every shadow, Claire’s journey weaves a captivating tale of courage, sacrifice, and the unbreakable bond between a mother and her unborn child.

These new issues find us catching up where the last two left off, with Claire, Hux, and Brody heading out for an area to set off the signal to attract the attention of the Peace Train. Is it a myth, or is it a reality, there’s only hope in keeping the idea alive that it’s out there, and can save them from the impending danger of the bikers and the mutants.

Claire is written as such a strong female character, and it’s good to see more women kicking ass in comics. Especially a very pregnant one. And like the first two, Evan doesn’t hold back when tugging on your emotions with some pretty serious and emotional events taking place in these books. And just like the last two, leaves you on a heck of a cliffhanger.
If you’re into Mad Max, Children of Men, or The Last of Us, you definitely need to check these books out! All four are available on Kickstarter until August 17th, so make sure you grab them while you can!
