Originally a web novel in 2015, it was later published as a light novel in 2016. The anime adaptation was part of the Fall 2022 anime lineup with a twelve-episode season. It follows a genre of other reincarnated anime series but still received positive feedback from fans. No release date was given but the trailer and promotional image confirmed a second season was coming and also posted a collaboration image with the anime it shares similarities with That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.
The trailer features plenty of action and shows Fran and Shishou will cross paths with both new and returning enemies. The second season will likely premiere sometime in 2023 but keep an eye out as a release date or window is confirmed in the near future. With the manga series still ongoing, it’s likely the series will not be going anywhere anytime soon and the 2020 spin-off manga series, Reincarnated as a Sword: Another Wishfurther expands the universe leaving plenty of room for the anime adaptation to explore.
