This new vending machine isekai series has been a big hit. The fantasy comedy has earned high marks for unique story riffs, and clever narrative, and has just enough jokes and heart to keep you invested from week to week, and now it’s been confirmed for a second season. It has not been announced when season two will premiere, but it is definitely in the works.
If you haven’t taken the chance to check out the first season, it’s one you should definitely add to your To Watch list. Created in March 2016, artist Hirukuma never expected Reborn as a Vending Machine to become a cult hit, but here we are. You can check out the anime for yourself over on Crunchyrollwhile Yen Press handles its manga stateside. If you were wanting to know more about it before jumping in, here is the official synopsis of the series:
“After dying in a traffic accident, I find myself standing near an unfamiliar lake. My body won’t move, I can’t hear my voice, and when I try to shout in confusion, words that I never expected come out! “Get one free with a winner.” I-it seems I’ve turned into a vending machine…! I can only do what actual vending machines can. It’s impossible to move by myself, and there’s no way for me to have any meaningful conversation-how am I going to survive some fantasy world’s dungeon like this?!”
If you are looking for a great show to introduce new fans to the genre of anime, this is definitely a great entry-level show. It’s pretty mellow and lighthearted, and the subject matter is relatively appropriate for all ages. If you are in the market for a new series, give Reborn as a Vending Machine, I Now Wander the Dungeon season one a try!
