Oppenheimer Trailer Shows First Footage of Nolan’s Star-Studded Atomic Bomb Film
Universal Pictures has released the Oppenheimertrailer. The Christopher Nolan film features a star-studded cast led by Cillian Murphy following the events of the creation of the first atomic bomb. Murphy will be featured in the role of J. Robert Oppenheimer otherwise known as the father of the atomic bomb. The American theoretical physicist invented the atomic bomb and was one of the primary contributors to the Manhattan Project. The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by author Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.
Although Murphy has starred in many of Nolan’s films including Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, and Dunkirk. This will mark the first time he will headline one of Nolan’s films. Speaking to The Guardian, Murphy said of Nolan, “I’ll always turn up for Chris, whatever the size of the part. Chris will call me up and I’m there.”
Starring alongside Murphy will Florence Pugh as JeanTatlock, Emily Blunt as Kitty Oppenheimer, Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss, Gary Oldman as Harry S. Truman, Matt Damon as Leslie Groves Jr., Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Jack Quaid, Kenneth Branagh, Dane DeHaan, Matthew Modine, Josh Peck, Jason Clarke, Alden Ehrenreich, David Dastmalchian, Alex Wolff, James D’Arcy, plus many more. Nolan helmed and produced the film alongside Charles Roven and Emma Thomas.
Oppenheimer will release in theaters on July 21, 2023.
