David Fincher is directing a new film project for Netflix, the film will be adapted from Alexis Nolent’s graphic novel series, The Killer. The graphic novel is something that fits Fincher’s genre very well, with its philosophical narrative style and intelligent writing, Fincher is sure to feel at home working on this project.
Fincher is being joined by Seven screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker, who will be writing the script. There are reports that Michael Fassbender is in talks to star in the film.
The story follows “a cold-blooded assassin who begins to have a psychological crisis in a world with no moral compass.”
Here’s the description from the book:
“A man solitary and cold, methodical and unencumbered by scruples or regrets, the killer waits in the shadows, watching for his next target. And yet the longer he waits, the more he thinks he’s losing his mind, if not his cool. A brutal, bloody, and stylish noir story of a professional assassin lost in a world without a moral compass, this is a case study of a man alone, armed to the teeth and slowly losing his mind.”
Looks like this has everything you’d look for to be successful, we will have to wait and see more from Fincher and Walker. I hope they are able to pull together a noir-style film that will pay homage to the graphic novel.
