Anthony Mackie and Sweet Tooth Praise the Silver-Haired God in New Twisted Metal Clip
As we continue cruising towards the premiere of Twisted Metalon Peacock, the streamer has dropped a brand-new Twisted Metal clip that not only highlights some of the action we will see outside of the gun-toting vehicles but also some of the humor that is being brought into the series. In the clip, we see Anthony Mackie‘s John Doe going toe-to-toe with Sweet Tooth (voiced by Will Arnett and portrayed by Samoa Joe).
As Joh Doe is likely to meet his demise, Sweet Tooth puts on some kill music which leads to the pair singing a duet of Sisqó‘s “Thong Song.” This spares John Doe’s life and the bizarre events leave more questions than answers but certainly gives us an idea as to the spirit of the series and the energy that Sweet Tooth brings to live-action adaptation of one of the most popularized video games.
The first look at the series came from a short teaser which saw series lead Anthony Mackie crank up the volume as he hits the road into what kicks off as a highlight reel of the world they have built for the series with guns blasting, fires, and explosions ensuing with the teaser capping off with a look at former TNT ChampionJoe Seanoa (Samoa Joe) embodying the iconic character Sweet Tooth.
The Deadpool duo of Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are tackling the live-action adaptation of one of the most iconic PlayStation franchises. Reese and Wernick’s vision of the series was penned by Michael Jonathan Smith who also serves as showrunner. The series stars Stephanie Beatriz alongside Mackie with the cast being rounded out by Thomas Hayden Church, Neve Campbell, Richard Cabral, Mike Mitchell, Tahj Vaughans, and Lou Beatty Jr.
Check out the series description below:
Twisted Metal, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland) about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
With the help of a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.
Twisted Metal will premiere exclusively on Peacock TV on July 27, 2023.
