New House of the Dragon Trailer Reveals the Great Civil War of Westeros
HBO has revealed a new trailer for the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon. The series will focus on the fall of House Targaryen during one of the greatest civil wars in Westeros history. The fight over who will take the throne following the death of King Viserys causes a disturbance in Westeros as the following custom would leave the throne in the hands of King Visery’s daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen (Mily Alcock/Emma D’Arcy)
The new trailer gives viewers a good indicator of what they can expect when the series premieres and one thing is for sure, there are dragons, so many dragons! The series is also set to feature multiple time jumps in an effort to tell the story correctly which should add another dynamic to the epic story of the dragon riders.
HBO‘s official description of the series reads:
“Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.”
Starring alongside Alcock and D’arcy will be Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke. Paddy Considine, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, Savannah Steyn, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, and Sonoya Mizuno. The series is based on Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin‘s novel Fire & Blood.
The series will work its way up to the Targaryen civil war, Dance of Dragons. Fans of Game of Thrones will know heavily influenced the series, and we will, of course, see plenty of dragons and tension within the House Targaryen that should make for an intriguing series to check out.
