Skybound Reveals New Cover Art for Cobra Commander #1
Skybound and Hasbro have unveiled new variant cover art for Cobra Commander #1, the highly anticipated comic book series continuing the exciting continuation in the Energon Universe. Penned by the talented writer Joshua Williamson, known for his work on DC‘s Superman and Dark Ride, the series will feature captivating artwork by Andrea Milana (Impact Winter: Rook) and colors by Annalisa Leoni (Oblivion Song).

The inaugural issue of this limited series is introducing readers to the Energon Universe’s newest installment. In a world where Cobra doesn’t exist, a sinister plot unravels as one man seeks to exploit the enigmatic alien substance called Energon, causing seismic disturbances across the globe.
Readers will delve into the origins of Cobra Commander, discover his true nature, and brace themselves for the calamitous events he intends to unleash upon the world, and perhaps even the universe itself.
Cobra Commander #1 is the second of four G.I. JOE miniseries set in the Energon Universe, which promises to showcase both the best and worst that humanity has to offer. Preceded by Duke #1, also written by Joshua Williamson, illustrated by Tom Reilly (The Thing), and colored by Jordie Bellaire (W0rldtr33), this new era of G.I. JOE and Cobra storytelling is off to an electrifying start.
But the excitement doesn’t end there, as these interconnected miniseries also bring together the iconic characters from Transformers and Void Rivals, casting a wide net over an expansive shared universe.

The Energon Universe was inaugurated in June 2023 when the legendary Transformers character Jetfire made a surprise appearance in Void Rivals #1. This marked the beginning of a collaborative venture between Hasbro and Skybound, resulting in TRANSFORMERS and G.I. JOE comics finding a new home with the publisher.
The Energon Universe continues to expand, with the recent release of TRANSFORMERS #1 by the multi-talented writer/artist Daniel Warren Johnson (Extremity, Do a Powerbomb, DC’s Wonder Woman: Dead Earth) and the remarkable colorist Mike Spicer (Stillwater, Murder Falcon).
Each issue within this universe promises unforgettable moments and holds the key to unraveling the profound mysteries that lie within, including the all-important question: #WhereIsMegatron.

Cobra Commander #1 will be available both at your favorite local comic book shops and digitally on January 17, 2024.
