Netflix Renews Live-Action Avatar: The Last Airbender for Seasons 2 and 3

Netflix has announced the renewal of the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender for two additional seasons, effectively concluding the saga of the four nations: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air.

The live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender followed in the steps of the original animated series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. The Nickelodeon series depicted a world divided into four nations — the Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads — each represented by a natural element for which the nation is named.

Benders possess the ability to control and manipulate the element from their nation. Only the Avatar has the mastery of all four elements. The formidable Fire Nation seeks to conquer the world, but the only bender with enough power, the Avatar, has vanished… until now. His tribe soon discovers that Aang is the long-lost Avatar.

Now, Katara and Sokka must protect Aang on his journey to master all four elements and save the world from the Fire Nation.

Since its Netflix debut on February 22, the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender has quickly gained traction, becoming the number one English TV show with an impressive 41.1 million views within the first 11 days. The series achieved remarkable success globally, reaching the top spot in 76 countries and securing a position within the top 10 in 92 countries.

While Netflix has not yet revealed the release dates for Seasons 2 and 3, casting and story information, or revealed any images, given the Season 1 adaptation covering the arc from Book One of the animated series, we will most certainly see the story adaptation follow suit with Books Two and Three being adapted over the next two season.

The live-action adaptation, initially announced in 2018, stars Gordon Cormier as Aang, Kiawentiio Tarbell as Katara, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Zuko, and Paul Sun-Hyung as Uncle Iroh, Momona Tamada as Ty Lee, Arden Cho as June, Elizabeth Yu as Azula, Maria Zhang as Suki, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai.

Stay tuned for updates on the continuation of the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Check out the first season now on Netflix!
