Monstrous Trailer Shows Cristina Ricci Dealing With Abuse and Other Terrors in New Horror Film
Screen Media Films has released a trailer for the upcoming horror film Monstrous. The new film stars Christina Ricci as a mother who takes her son and escapes a violent relationship that leads her to a remote lakeside farmhouse. She must now do anything to protect her son from the dangers ahead, both physical and supernatural.
The official synopsis for the film reads:
“A terrifying new horror awaits Laura (Christina Ricci) and her seven-year-old son Cody when they flee her abusive ex-husband and try to settle into a new life in an idyllic and remote lakeside farmhouse. Still traumatized, their physical and mental well-being are pushed to the limit as their fragile existence is threatened.”
In the trailer, we see Laura and her son Cody (Santino Barnard) move away to their new home by the lakeside. The hope of a fresh start quickly ends when Laura receives a phone call from her abusive ex-husband and violent father. With the fear of her ex-husband finding them and possibly hurting her and her son on the forefront, another danger lurks closer to home as Cody begins to see a creature emerge from the lake during the night, which indicates that the mother and son may have more sinister problems to deal with.
The also stars Colleen Camp, Don Balderamos, and Nick Vallelonga. The film was directed by Chris Sivertson from a script written by Carol Chrest.
Monstrous will come to theaters and VOD on May 13th, 2022. Check out the trailer and poster below:
