Monomyth: Enter the Deep and Twisted Tale in New Fantasy/Horror Series from Mad Cave
Mad Cave Studios has announced a new fantasy/horror series that will take readers into the deepest and most twisted corners when Monomyth is released. The series will take us to a world with magic on the brink of extinction and the last wizards making a desperate attempt to summon an ancient bloodline. The series comes from writer David Hazan with art by Cecilia Lo Valvo, colors by Marissa Louise, and letters by Lucas Gattoni.
Mad Cave’s description of Monomyth reads:
“Magic is all but extinct. When the last ailing wizard casts a final desperate spell to summon the descendants of ancient bloodlines to a school for magic now in disrepair…those chosen ones find a horror of the likes they’ve never experienced. They will have to confront the deepest parts of themselves, their tragic pasts, and defeat each other in order to survive the ordeal.”
Hazansharesthe excitement of exploring both magic and storytelling in the series saying,
“Monomyth has been a wonderful opportunity to explore both the magic of storytelling as well as to plumb its darkest recesses…because maybe it’s just me, but if I ever got a letter inviting me to a school for magic, I’d tear it up! And Cecilia and Marissa together have done such a wonderful job of illustrating that juxtaposition between wonder and terror as our cast discover that magic is both everything and nothing like what they imagined. Lucas’ innovative letters only intensify the mystery and terror in a world where magic is stories.”
Gattoni shared their excitement to work with Hazan and jumped at the opportunity to collaborate together saying:
“David is one of my favorite collaborators and an amazing up-and-coming writer, so when I got called to work on a dark magic book with him I didn’t have to think twice about it! Cecilia and Marissa are killing it in art and colors so I hope I can bring my A-game lettering to it as well. Can´t wait for everyone to check this one out!”
Monomyth #1 will be available at your favorite local comic shop and digitally in May.
