Miramax Developing Halloween Cinematic Universe

Miramax has recently announced a partnership with Trancas International Films to develop and produce a TV series based on the iconic Halloween franchise. Initially launched in 1978 with John Carpenter‘s co-written and directed movie, the Halloween universe has captivated audiences for decades. This newly signed deal aims to create a fresh and expansive narrative, spanning both films and television, to put Halloween back on the map for a new generation of fans.

According to Deadline, Miramax, along with other horror-loving companies such as Blumhouse and A24, competed intensely to secure the TV rights for Halloween. While Miramax and Blumhouse have already collaborated on the Halloween feature trilogy, helmed by director David Gordon Green, Miramax went the extra mile and emerged victorious.

Marc Helwig, the executive producer at Miramax, expressed his excitement about this venture, stating:

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring Halloween to television. This partnership with Trancas and the visionary Malek Akkad will introduce this iconic franchise to a new form of storytelling and a new generation of fans.”

With thirteen films under its belt, the Halloween franchise has captivated audiences from 1978 to 2009 before taking a brief hiatus. Thanks to the successful revival in 2018 under the direction of David Gordon Green, three additional movies were released by 2022, reigniting the excitement surrounding the franchise. The introduction of memorable characters like Michael Myers and final girl Laurie Strode has solidified the Halloween franchise’s place as one of the iconic franchises in the horror genre and we welcome what’s to come.
