Thirty years ago, the cultural phenomenon known as the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers graced our televisions for the first time, and the lives of millions of kids around the world were changed forever. And to celebrate this momentous milestone, our friends at Boom! Studios gathered some of the best writers and artists in the game to pen a book worthy of Zordon’s approval.
Here’s a premise for what you can look forward to with this special:
Between a spotlight on Ernie in Angel Grove, Alpha 5’s struggle to find his true purpose, a mind-bending “What If?” story about Tommy’s powers which introduces an all-new alternate universe, an additional tale about his marriage to Kat, and a deeper look at the Ranger Academy, this anniversary issue is truly packed full of content worthy of the 30-year legacy.
This tribute to the OG Rangers was truly morphenomenal. It started out with a touching tribute to the man behind the counter at the Angel Grove Youth Center, Ernie. There is also an incredibly touching tale about everyone’s favorite robot Alpha 5.
The issue then switches gears to fill in some backstory that was touched on slightly in the recent Netflix Special “Once and Always” where it was mentioned that Kat and Tommy Oliver had gotten married, and then features the comic writing debut of the original Pink Ranger Amy Jo Johnson, who’s story in this book will spin into a brand new series sometime next year!
There is much more to be found in this book, so make sure you check out your local comic book shop or anywhere you get your books and grab yourself a copy of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers 30th Anniversary Comic Special #1!
