Max Payne Remakes Are in the Works From Remedy Entertainment
Remedy Entertainment has struck a deal with Rockstar Games and will be developing remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne. The deal struck between the two companies will bring both games under one big remake with a targeted release on current-gen consoles and PC using their Northlight game engine.
The press release from Remedy noted that Rockstar will be funding the development that will be “in line with a typical Remedy AAA-game production.” Remedy will then gather royalties from the title after Rockstar has recouped its funding from the development and publishing of the game.
Remedy CEO Tero Virtala remarked on the agreement, saying:
“We’re hugely excited to be working with our partners at Rockstar Games once again for the chance to bring the story, action, and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games back to players in new ways.”
The Max Payne remake will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC but no release date has been given. Stay tuned for more information.
