Dungeons & Dragons: Joe Manganiello Adapting Dragonlance Novels into Live-Action Series
Joe Manganiello is adapting a live-action series based on Dungeons & Dragons popular novel series Dragonlance into a live-action series. Manganiello is a household name with his acting credits but is also a D&D superfan which makes him a prime candidate to spearhead this project. The news dropped during Dungeons & Dragons‘ D&D Direct in which Mangianello gave an update on another project he is working on with Wizards of the Coast in the documentary celebrating D&D’s 50th anniversary. After sharing how the RPG game had informed his love of stories, he dropped the news of his live-action series based on the Dragonlance novels by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
This is the confirmation of the live-action series which many fans had been speculating about since Manganiello briefly mentioned his work on a D&D TV series earlier this year in a viral social media video in which he showed off the custom table he had made for his lair and D&D sessions. In the video, he mentioned the documentary he was working on and that he was working on a TV series for Wizards of the Coast.
Dungeons & Dragons has continuously grown in popularity with countless adaptations across all mediums. With it being a source material of sorts for Stranger Things and a big part of the story and characters, there have also been comic book adaptations, and film adaptations with the recent Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves getting rave reviews from critics and fans alike. There are still other projects in the works, we can expect even more exciting things to come from the world of D&D.
No release date for the Dragonlance adaptation has been given, but you can expect to see the documentary Dungeons & Dragons’ 50th Anniversary in 2024.
