Jim Lee Becomes DC Comics’ President, Publisher, and Chief Creative Officer
DC Comics ushers in a new president, Jim Lee. The talented artist has been a comic fan since the 80s and has been working in the comics industry for decades. Lee started his career at Marvel having worked on X-Men, Spider-Man, and Wolverine, just to name a few.
This start with Marvel catapulted his career and lead him to DC where he’s most well-known for his work on Batman stories. In 2011, Lee created the New 52 Initiative, this relaunch of the comics universe started due to The Flash traveling back in time to save his mother. The upcoming Flash movie from Andy Muschietti, will feature part of this story as inspiration and have Ezra Miller playing two different versions of the Fastest Man Alive.
As the new president of DC Comics, Lee will be responsible for the future of the brand and all forms of its media. Thankfully, Lee knows the world of comics like the back of his hand, so overseeing the release of comics and future films should be easy work for this titan of the industry.
With the help of James Gunn and Peter Safran, the future of DC Comics looks bright. This trio of artists and captains of industry will transform our comic shelves and movie theater screens with new projects with a fresh, experienced perspective. The new world they start with will be titled “Gods and Monsters“. This chapter in the DC Universe will feature a new version of Superman, Swamp Thing, and the Creature Commandos which all have a part in the first lineup of titles which includes 5 films and 5 TV series.
We are very hopeful of this reinvention of the DC Universe and excited to see what Lee will bring to the table for comics and film.
