James Mangold Writing Swamp Thing Movie for DC
Indiana Jones 5, Logan, and the upcoming Star Wars director James Mangold revealed he is writing the Swamp Thing movie for DC. He will be penning the script for one of the first films in James Gunn and Peter Safran‘s new DCEU kicking off with “Gods and Monsters”.
Mangold spoke with Collider after the announcement of the new Star Wars movie and confirmed that he was penning the new Swamp Thing film as well although he was mum on details.
“The truth is I’m writing both [Swamp Thing and Star Wars] right now. “Who knows what’s going to happen and what’s going to blossom first or second.”I’m acknowledging I’m doing Swamp Thing, there’s your scoop. It’s not a rumour. It’s happening.”
This confirms previous rumors that he was set to pen the film after Mangold shared comic art from Swamp Thing a couple of months ago. This is yet another piece of the puzzle forming Gunn and Safran’s first chapter in the DCU as Swamp Thing makes one of the five planned films along with five planned TV series under “Gods and Monsters” which includes Superman: Legacy, The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow along with Swamp Thing for the planned films and Booster Gold, Waller, Creature Commandos, Lanterns, and Paradise Lost for the TV side.
